The woman killed in last week’s rollover crash at the intersection of Griggs Avenue and Hermosa Street has been identified as 24-year-old Sheila Nava of Las Cruces.
Nava was driving a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer, heading south on Hermosa, when it was struck broadside by a Chevy Impala that was westbound on Griggs. Traffic investigators believe the Trailblazer ran a stop sign before it was struck.
Investigators determined Nava was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected as the Trailblazer rolled over at least once. Nava was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.
The driver of the Impala, a 22-year-old woman, was not seriously injured.
No charges or traffic citations are expected to be filed in this crash.
