The Las Cruces Police Department will hold a news conference at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, to provide information on the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred Monday, Nov. 11 on the 1300 block of S. Espina. The news conference will be held in Council Chambers at Las Cruces City Hall, 700 N. Main St.
Monday night, LCPD officers responded to the 1300 block of S. Espina regarding a man armed with a gun yelling outside of an apartment complex. On arrival, an LCPD police officer encountered an armed man. The incident resulted in an officer firing at least one round and the man being shot at least once.
No officers were injured in the incident.
The Officer Involved Incident Task Force includes investigators from New Mexico State Police, the Las Cruces Police Department, Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State University Police. The task force collects evidence, conducts interviews and is responsible for investigating this incident.
