The legendary pop group ABBA reunited on Friday in order to receive a top honor in their native Sweden. Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad all made a rare public appearance together at the Royal Palace in Sweden’s capital city of Stockholm. The iconic quartet received their Royal Vasa Orders from King Carl XVI Gustaf. The honor was bestowed on ABBA, “for very distinguished contributions within Swedish and international music life.” Ulvaeus said during an interview on Swedish TV4 that he felt, “very emotional” receiving the order, especially since the initial nomination for the honor came directly from the Swedish people.
ABBA shared photos from the ceremony on their official Instagram page, with the band proudly revealing the news that they are now, “Commanders, 1st Class, of the Royal Order of Vasa.” They are the first Swedish citizens in nearly 50 years to receive that specific honor. (Rolling Stone)
