Mother Convicted of Infant’s Death Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison

A Las Cruces woman convicted of causing her infant daughter’s death is sentenced to twelve years in prison. Caricia Ceballos was found guilty of child abuse resulting in great bodily harm after officials say she and her husband violently shook the baby. The victim was taken to University Medical Center in El Paso, where doctors found a possible brain bleed caused by the suspected abuse. Marcus Minnick, the infant’s father, is still awaiting trial.
