Family Members can Cross Border to Attend Commencements

Borderland family members can cross the border to go to commencement exercises of graduating relatives. On Saturday, KDBC said the University of Texas at El Paso and Customs and Border Protection arranged an exception to the COVID-19-inspired federal closure of the southern border to non-essential travel, which is currently in force. For the moment, the exceptional measure applies for families with students at UTEP, NMSU, and Texas Tech Health Sciences. The measure is expected also to be extended to those in other schools.
