Bernalillo County Commissioners set Aside Money for Deputies’ Uniform Cams

The Bernalillo County Commissioners are advancing the idea of getting uniform cameras for sheriff’s deputies.

Yesterday, the commissioners voted in favor of a non-binding administrative resolution calling for the acquisition of the devices. As part of the decision, money was set aside for the eventual purchase of the cameras. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office is not obligated to move in accordance with the county resolution. Sheriff Manny Gonzales says he prefers to spend taxpayer dollars on hiring more deputies instead of buying cameras for existing staff.
